Frequently Asked Questions
-
At your first visit to Drift & Restore Massage Therapy, we’ll take a few minutes to review your health history and talk about your goals. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or simply seeking relaxation, this conversation helps tailor your session to your needs. You’ll have time to ask questions and share any preferences so your massage feels comfortable and personalized. Once ready, you’ll have privacy to undress to your comfort level and settle on a warm, padded table. The room is softly lit with calming music to help you relax, and you’ll always be draped with a sheet and blanket—only the area being treated will be uncovered.
-
Preparing for your massage helps you get the most from your session and supports your body’s natural healing process. Whether you’re coming in for relaxation, chronic pain relief, or auto injury recovery, these simple steps will help you arrive ready to unwind and restore balance.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water before and after your session. Hydration helps your muscles respond better to massage, reduces post-session soreness, and supports your body in flushing out what’s released during treatment.
Have Your Goals in Mind
Take a few moments to think about what you want from your session—whether that’s easing tension, healing after an injury, or simply relaxing. Your therapist will check in about your goals and customize your treatment to meet your specific needs.
Arrive a Few Minutes Early
Arriving 5–10 minutes before your appointment gives you time to check in, use the restroom, and settle into a relaxed state before your massage begins.
Communicate Openly
Let your therapist know about any changes in your health, pain areas, or preferences. During the massage, feel free to speak up if the pressure needs adjusting—your comfort and safety always come first.
-
Frequency depends on your needs and goals. For general stress relief, every 4-6 weeks works well. If you’re recovering from an auto injury, chronic pain, or muscle tension, weekly or bi-weekly sessions may be more beneficial. Together, we’ll create a schedule that best supports your body’s healing and balance.

Yes! In Oregon, massage therapy is covered under Personal Injury Protection (PIP)—regardless of who was at fault. Your policy includes up to $15,000 in medical benefits for one year following the accident, which covers treatments like massage and bodywork. We handle all billing so you can focus on recovery.
A referral is required for insurance billing. You can get this from your primary care doctor or the provider who evaluated you after your accident. If you don’t have a doctor, we can connect you with trusted local practitioners who can provide a referral and evaluation.

Yes, mild soreness can happen—especially after deeper work or your first few sessions. This is your body adjusting and releasing tension. Staying hydrated and applying a warm compress can ease any tenderness, which usually fades within 24 hours.
